The magician threads a solid brass square nut onto a length of cord. The only way the only way the nut can be removed from the cord is to either cut the cord or pull the nut from one of the cord’s ends. Of course then there’s magic! Even though a spectator or spectators hold the ends of the cord, the magician lays a handkerchief across the nut, reaches up under the hank and removes the nut! Impossible? Not with this finely made machine shop miracle! The magician can even invite a spectator to thoroughly examine the nut and cord.
