The magician displays a length or regular white cotton rope. He doubles the rope and cleanly cuts it in half. He then ties the two pieces of rope back together. Next he ties large loops in each end of the rope. He then cuts the loops leaving two more knots in the rope. The magician then winds the rope of three knots around his hand. When he unwinds the rope, the rope is completely restored! This is Ted Collins’ famous Panama Rope Mystery. It is the father of many orther rope routines. Collins won first place with this trick at the 1942 IBM convention in Fort Worth, Texas. Any magician’s rope and scissors can be used.
